Individual Standings
The University of New Mexico women’s golf team is in 15th place after the first round of the Battle at Rancho Bernardo in San Diego. The Lobos shot a 24-over 312 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Resort (par 72, 6,336 yards).
The 17-team field features 16 teams ranked in the top-50 of the most recent GolfStat poll, including six of the top 10. At No. 51, UNM is the lowest-ranked team in the field.
Lobo freshman Sammi Stevens is off to a great start, shooting even-par 72, which ties for her second-lowest round of the season. Stevens had one birdie, one bogey and 16 pars and is in a three-way tie for sixth place.
No. 3 UCLA shot a 5-over 293 for a one-stroke lead over 18th-ranked UC Davis (294). No. 7 Purdue is third at 295.

Junior Sarah Salvo had a very slow start. She was 5-over on her round after making a double bogey on the sixth hole, but Salvo shot even par over the final 12 holes to finish with a 77.
Freshman Manon de Roey ended with an 80 and was stung by two double bogeys and a triple bogey.
UNM’s most experienced golfers, sophomore Beth Buchner and junior Rebecca Hellbom, slogged through their worst rounds of the season. Buchner, who had two double bogeys and one triple bogey, shot an 83. Hellbom finished with an 84.
The individual lead is held by Arizona State’s Guilia Molinaro at 3-under 69. Laura Gonzales is in second at 70 while three golfers are tied for third at 71.
