FULLERTON, Calif. — The New Mexico softball team lost a pair of games Sunday at the Judi Garman Classic. The University of Pacific run-ruled the Lobos, 15-4, in five innings during game one but UNM held strong with No. 12 Texas in game two before falling, 3-2. New Mexico is 12-14 overall on the season. The Lobos had 13 hits in the two games.

Pacific poured on the offense in game one. The Tigers erupted for 15 runs on 17 hits. UNM utilized three different pitchers in the loss.

Despite the loss, UNM had four doubles in the game. Junior Kerry Hodgins led UNM against Pacific with a 2-for-3 performance. New Mexico led the nationally-ranked Longhorns 2-1 into the sixth inning. The Lobos had six hits in the game. Junior Jessica Garcia was 2-for-3 against UT.

Texas eventually scored two runs late in the game to steal the victory.

Kari Gutierrez was the losing pitcher after pitching a good game against Texas. Fox (10-1) was the winning pitcher for Texas.

UNM will be off until March 29 when it travels to UTEP for a doubleheader.
