COLLEGE STATION, Texas— The University of New Mexico’s men’s distance medley relay team captured a sixth-place finish at the 2011 Indoor track & field championships on Saturday. Lobos Sam Evans, Richard York, Gabe Aragon and David Bishop recorded a time of 9:31.50 in the event which was held at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M.

In the women’s 5,000-meter run, Ruth Senior finished fifth for New Mexico with a time of 16:18.38. Fellow Lobo Natalie Grey crossed the finish line with a time of 16:44.36, for 14th place.

Ross Millington recorded a time of 8:08.40 in the men’s 3,000-meter run to finish in 11th place.

Deanna Young was the only Lobo to compete in a field event for the squad. In the triple jump, she reached a distance of 12.78m (41-11.25) for an 11th-place finish.

New Mexico will open the outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational March 25-26 in Palo Alto, Calif.
