RENO, Nev. — The New Mexico softball team split a pair of games Sunday at the Nevada Classic. UNM defeated Boston College, 6-5 and dropped a 12-5 decision to Nevada at Hixson Park. The Lobos are 10-9 after the tournament and play at St. Mary’s Tuesday.

Junior Jessica Garcia has a 14-game hitting after the tournament. Garcia was 4-for-5 against Boston College and 1-for-4 vs. Nevada.

Freshman Chelsea Anaya was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer against Boston College. Anaya finishes the weekend with a 13-game hitting streak.

Sophomore Kaela DeBroeck (6-5) was the pitcher of record in both games for New Mexico. UNM also used Kari Gutierrez and Madeline Greene.

Against Boston College, Danielle Castro was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Anaya and Greene were 1-for-3.

UNM’s doubleheader Tuesday is set for 2 p.m.
