Oklahoma City, Okla. – The 2010 Mountain West Conference champion in the platform dive fell just short of a repeat today during the third day of competition.

Junior diver Aubrey Bush, who took the title during the 2010 conference championships with a final score of 243.80, finished second to Utah’s Kwan Ling Yu who had a final score of 239.95.

Bush had a score of 232.65 and brought in17 points for UNM. She continues to find success in the event despite the fact that no pool in the state of New Mexico houses a platform.

Freshman Melissa Bollig, who hails from Franktown, Colo., like teammate Bush, finished sixth in the event with a final of 189.45. She was one of two freshmen to place in the final eight. Her finish gave UNM 13 points.

In the water, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Tesse Maciejko, Nicole Peirce, Heidi Zeiger, and Jorgi Hobson finished ninth in the finals with a time of 1:36.39.

In the 100-yard breaststroke Maciejko had a 16th place finish in the B-Finals.

UNM has fallen in the standings from fifth to eight place. Its point total of 219 puts them ahead of last place Air Force by 119 points. San Diego State continues to expand its lead and remains in first with a total of 497 points. BYU stands in second with 388 points, Wyoming has 347 for third, and Utah has 333 for a fourth place standing.
