FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Junior diver Aubrey Bush led the way for the Lobos this weekend capturing a first place finish in the 3-meter springboard with a final score of 329.45 as New Mexico fell to both BYU and TCU this weekend.

The Lobos dropped both contests by a final of 228-72 to BYU, and 154-121 to TCU. This meet was the final conference meet of the season for New Mexico.

Bush also finished third in the 1-meter behind freshmen teammate Melissa Bollig who finished first with a score of 296.10. Bollig’s closest competition, Dana Christensen of BYU, was more than 33 points behind her.

Bollig dove to a second place finish in the 3-meter finishing with 304.60.

In the pool, freshman Stelicia Flores placed the highest for the Lobos touching the wall second in the 100-yard back in 58.42.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team composed of freshmen Flores, Ashley Blanchette, Jorgi Hobson, and Heidi Zeiger finished third with a final time of 1:48.97.

Junior Maria Dudley and senior Jennifer Burgess finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 1000-yard free with times of 10:27.51 and 10:28.71.

“We had a solid showing in the pool today,” said Head Coach Tracy Ljone. “We did better today than our meet in Colorado (Maverick Meet) so we are headed in the right direction, and the divers were outstanding. They showed they are top contenders going into conference.”

Diving Coach Abel Sanchez was also satisfied with the performance off the boards.

“I am extremely proud of the both of the girls today,” said Sanchez. “Audrey dove beautifully, and she continues to show that she is one of the top divers in the conference.”

“Melissa has come a long way, and I am excited for what the ladies can do,” he said. “They have all been training extremely hard, and they came into this meet tired, for them to finish first was great.”

The team is now preparing for the final meet of the regular season; it will travel to Las Cruces, N.M. to take on in-state rival New Mexico State, Sat. Feb. 5 at noon.
