ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico softball team is hosting a coaching clinic on Jan. 29-30 and a recruiting seminar on Jan. 30 at the UNM softball complex. Anyone interested in the coaching clinic and/or the recruiting seminar encouraged to register online at www.newmexicosoftballcamps.com. Lobo Head Coach Erica Beach and the New Mexico coaching staff will host its first Coaching Clinic of 2011. This will be open to all coaches at every level of the game. The clinic will take place at the Lobo Softball Complex on January 29-30. Saturday’s session will begin from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by a dinner and coaches social. The clinic will conclude on Sunday with a three-hour session from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

To help with this clinic, Coach Beach will be welcoming two guest speakers. Mark Montgomery is in his first year as head coach at Northern Colorado University following a 6-year stint at Centenary College. Also instructing will be Nicole Trimboli, head coach at Regis University. Nicole brings a wealth of knowledge and experience after spending her playing days at the University of Nebraska as well as a member of the USSSA Pride NPF team. The fee for the coaching clinic is $100 for Saturday and Sunday, excluding the pitching and $125 including all sessions. Those interested in the pitching lecture only its $40.

The Recruitment Education Seminar is the first of its kind at New Mexico and will be held on Jan. 30 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The purpose of this lecture is to educate coaches, parents and players to the NCAA rules regarding the recruitment of potential student athletes and to answer frequently asked questions about the recruiting process. Topics that will be covered include:

This is a great opportunity to learn what you need to know as a coach, as a parent, and as a potential student athlete to make the recruiting process a smooth and successful one. The fee for adults is $40 and players under 18 are $30.
