PARK CITY, Utah — The University of New Mexico ski team jumped to third place Sunday at the 2011 Utah Invitational held at the Park City Mountain Resort. The Lobo men’s and women’s teams concluded the Alpine portion of the invitational with the slalom event Sunday. The UNM men had the third highest point total on the day with 112 points, while the women were fourth with 100 points. UNM has a team total of 421.5 heading into the Nordic events. The Nordic portion of the invitational will be held Jan. 21-22 at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah.

Colorado leads the event with 444 total points. Utah is second at 435, followed by UNM (421.5) and Denver (412).

Lobo junior All-American Petter Brenna captured a second place finish in the slalom with a time of 1:39.49 and earned 47 points. Brenna finished second in both Alpine events during this invitational. UNM’s Juho-Pekka Penttinen placed fifth with a mark of 1:41.04.

Anne Cecilie Brusletto ranked third in the women’s event. Brusletto earned 44 points after finishing with a time of 1:28.76. Kate Williams finished eighth with a mark of 1:29.78.
