New Mexico completes the non-conference season with a
12-3 record following a 102-62 victory over Cal State

Alex Kirk set a UNM freshman scoring record with 31
points in just 21 minutes…the previous record was 30
points by Kenny Thomas against Utah in the 1996 Western
Athletic Conference Tournament championship game (March 9,
1996)
Kirk also tied a Mountain West Conference scoring record
by a freshman…Evan Burns scored 31 against New Mexico on
Feb. 24, 2003, while Wyoming’s Desmar Jackson had 31
against Utah on Feb. 27, 2010
UNM has had two different players score at least 20
points this season, both by freshmen: 20 by Kendall
Williams against Longwood and 31 tonight by Alex Kirk
The Lobos reach the 100-point mark for the first time
since a 103-70 decision over Ole Miss on Dec. 13,
2008…it’s the fourth 100-point game for UNM under Steve
Alford
