ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — University of New Mexico men’s soccer head coach Jeremy Fishbein recently announced the addition of former Lobo Brandon Moss to the UNM staff for the 2010 season. Moss, an Albuquerque native, was a four-year starting midfielder for the Lobos from 2002-05.

“Brandon represents what our program is all about,” said Fishbein. “He is a local kid that was under the radar from a recruiting standpoint, but by the time he was done he was a captain, an Academic All-American and an MLS player. We are glad to have Brandon back. He will make an incredible impact on our student-athletes.”

Following the 2005 season, in which UNM finished as the NCAA national runner-up, Moss was drafted by the Columbus Crew in the third round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Moss played for the Crew for two seasons before retiring in January of 2008. While completing his degree in University Studies, Moss worked with several youth programs in the Columbus area. He spent the 2009 season as a volunteer assistant coach at Ohio State.

“This is a great opportunity to come back to the place where I played and still have pride in the school and community,” said Moss. “Everything just fell into place to come back home. My family is in the area. Having Jeremy still here made the decision very easy.”

The Lobo men’s soccer team will begin the 2010 season on Aug. 20 with an exhibition match at Tulsa.
