New Mexico hosting Detroit – Postgame Notes
Saturday, November 13, 2010 – Albuquerque, N.M.
-The Lobos started two true freshmen in Alex Kirk and Kendall Williams
-Alex Kirk scored the first points of the 2010-11 season.
-Kirk recorded a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in his first career game.
-Attendance was 15,145.
-The Lobos improved to 4-0 in season and home openers under Steve Alford. The win was also the eighth consecutive in a season opener.
-New Mexico is 41-4 all-time in Pit openers.
-The Lobos never trailed in the contest.
-Dairese Gary’s free throw with the 1:46 mark of the second half made him the 28th Lobo to score 1,000 career points. He finished the game with 1,001. His string of double-figure scoring games ended at seven straight as he finished with nine points.
-The win marked the eighth consecutive home opener that UNM allowed less than 60 points, and the squad improved to a perfect 35-0 under Alford when holding opponents under 60 points.
