The National Collegiate Athletic Association has released the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for students who began college in 2003, and the University of New Mexico once again scored very well. The University of New Mexico improved from 2002 cohort which was released last year, jumping from a 72% mark to 76% this year. In the 2003 cohort, there were big improvements by several sports.

On the men’s side, basketball improved 13%, baseball jumped up 12% and track/cross country jumped up 10%. On the women’s side, the biggest gainer was women’s basketball, which jumped 8% by scoring a perfect 100. Other women’s sports scoring perfect 100s were tennis, golf, skiing, and soccer.

The 2010 GSR that was released by the NCAA is for the 2003 cohort. It factors in all student-athletes who began college in 2003 and figures the percentage that graduated within six years. The GSR differs from the federal graduation rate in that it factors in transfer students, both who enter the program, as well as those who leave the program but continue their education.
