Albuquerque, N.M. – This Saturday, as the sun casts a warm glow over the city of Albuquerque, the pool in Seidler Natatorium on the campus of the University of New Mexico will be buzzing with life as former Lobo swimmers return home.

The homecoming for these former Lobo swimmers is part of the Alumni Weekend hosted by Head swimming Coach Tracy Ljone and her staff. It is aimed at building relationships between the past and future of the UNM swimming and diving program.

“The current squad is excited to meet some of our past letterwinners and record holders,” Ljone said. “I definitely think it will help the current swimmers appreciate the legacy that comes with being a part of UNM athletics.”

Of the alumni that are returning, many currently hold school records in their respective events and have a place in Lobo history.

Robyn Miller, a member of the squad from 2003-2006 holds the top times in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle, and the 400-yard individual medley. She was a member of the 400 and 800-yard freestyle relay teams that hold top times. Miller also holds top five times with teams in the 200, 400 and 800-yard freestyle relay, and the 400-yard medley relay.

Jenna Syverson, a swimmer from 2004-2007, holds top five times in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle; and was a member of relay teams that have the top time in the 200 and 400-yard freestyle, she was also part of the 200-yard medley relay team that holds the top time.

Jennifer Hale, a swimmer from 2004-2007, holds top five times in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle, along with a top five time in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

Tori Clarridge, a member of the squad from 2005-2008, has top five times in the 50, 100, and 200-yard freestyle to accompany top times in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle and Medley Relays.

These accomplished athletes and letterwinners are joined by a group of Alumni that will be present for the celebration of all things Lobo this weekend. They will be announced during the first quarter of the football game this Saturday against UTEP, and will highlight the long standing tradition of Lobo Swimming and Diving.

A tradition that, much like the legacy the swimmers and divers have left will only grow stronger and deeper as the years go by.
