ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— University of New Mexico women’s tennis player, Kristin Eggleston is this week’s Lobo Great Eight athlete. She is a current sophomore and coming back strong and energetic for her second season. Originally from Palm Desert, California, Eggleston has enjoyed the game of tennis most of her life. During her senior year in high school Kristin achieved high honors such as winning the CIF tournament and MVP on her team. Known as a solid all-around player, she has made a mark for herself by defending and fighting for every single point. Now with the experience of her freshman season, she has developed a power-driven game for this year’s upcoming season.
How is your sophomore year going?
It’s going great. I love being back in Albuquerque with all of my friends and teammates and I’m excited to start training for the upcoming season.
What is your favorite animal?
I love dogs
Who is your favorite athlete?
Roger Federer, he is a great ambassador for the sport.
Why did you start playing tennis and how many years have you been playing?
I started playing tennis when I was 11. I met a coach that really inspired me and pushed me to become better, both on and off the court.
What is your favorite thing about the Land of Enchantment?
I really like all of the people here and how the community is so involved in Lobo athletics.
What is your favorite holiday and why?
I love Christmas, it’s just great being at home and spending time with my family.
