June 9, 2010

The Lobo Room of the Student Union Building on the campus of UNM was the site of the Lobo Club Membership Drive’s second reporting session on May 25. A capacity crowd joined Lobo student-athletes and Lobo football head coach Mike Locksley in checking the progess of the Lobo Club Ambassador teams.

Thus far 2010 Membership Drive totals, including new money, new members, and total pledges, are ahead of last year at this same time. “We are on track to break records,” Lobo Club membership drive commissioner Chris Cates announced.

New members were the focus at this Report Session. Pat Mitchell, the Veteran Ambassador of the Week, led the veterans with a high of 11 new members since the last Report Session, and is in second place behind Bill Michael for overall new members. Other top veteran accolades went to David Smoak and John Kennedy with five new members each since the last report session.

Rookie of the Week honors went to Dan and Nancy Markmann for their efforts in signing up five new members, along with former UNM baseball student-athlete Cory Robbins with two new members. Additionally, Tony Esposito must have been using the relaxation candle that was presented to him at the last Report Session to alleviate some of his fund-raising frustrations. Tony successfully signed up three new Lobo Club donors!

A special award was given to Wryan Capps. He received the `Mr. Persistent’ award for keeping Lobo Club staffers Dee Byfuglien and Carly Newlands on their toes. He managed to turn in, fax and email both of them numerous times the same few pledge cards. It is always better to be safe than sorry. We appreciate your persistence!!

The 3rd and next to last Report Session featuring Head Baseball Coach Ray Birmingham will be held Wednesday, June 9th at the Lobo Baseball Field.

A Message to All Lobo Club Donors: renew your support now and help this tremendous team of Ambassadors aim to be the best in the Mountain West!
