Former Lobo Jodi Ewart earned her first professional paycheck this weekend at the Ladies Titan Tire Challenge held at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion, Iowa. The three-time All-American finished in a tie for fifth with a 54-hole total of 213 (3 under), earning $3,132.
The Titan is part of the Duramed FUTURES Tour, which sponsors 17 tournaments between March 19 – September 5.
Ewart entered the final round tied with Chrisine Song for the lead and the duo was atop the leaderboard heading to No. 10. However, Ewart shot 40 on the back nine to finish with a 75. Song fired a 67 and coasted to a six-stroke victory.
Ewart qualified for the FUTURES Tour last November when she finished in a tie for sixth place at a qualifying tournament in Winter Haven, Fla. She will play on the tour for the remainder of the 2010 season. If Ewart finishes in the top-10 of the money list, she could earn her LPGA Tour card without having to go to Q-school in December.
Ewart was a 3-time All-American (2007, `09 and `10) at UNM, winning a school-record five individual titles. She is the Lobos’ career leader with a stroke average of 73.11, including a school-record 72.12 average in 2009-10.
