ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Lobo Club Membership Drive Commissioner Chris Cates is excited about the 2010 Lobo Club Ambassador teams results following the first reporting session of the drive.
“This year’s Lobo Club Membership Drive is off to an impressive start,” said Cates at the May 13 reporting session. “We are ahead of where we were at this time a year ago. Our teams are doing a great job and we still have a little over a month to go.”
This year’s Membership Drive teams of Lobo Club Ambassadors are passionate Lobo fans, dedicated to raising money for UNM student-athlete scholarships. The results of the first reporting session show 124 new donors and $133,413.05 in new money.
During the reporting session, the teams received a pep talk from Lobo women’s golf coach Jill Trujillo, a former UNM student-athlete, before the team headed off to Wilmington, N.C. for the 2010 NCAA Championships.
“Fundraising is not easy,” said Trujillo. “But seeing these student-athletes grow into young adults is incredibly rewarding and the dollars raised for UNM degrees are priceless. We know how hard you are working for us and greatly appreciate your efforts.”
Recent Red Blazer Club inductee Bill Michael was easily Veteran of the Week during the first reporting session. Michael brought in 19 new members since the Drive kicked off. Plus he turned in an additional two new members the evening of the report session giving him an astonishing 21 for the Drive to date.
Rookie of the Week accolades go to Joe Codova, and Dan and Nancy Markmann. Cordova has been impressive with 12 new members total, and six new members since the April 28 Kickoff. Dan and Nancy Markmann have six of eight renewals turned in, including three that have increased their donation. This Rookie couple went from nervous first-timers to setting the pace.
