ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Junior Jaymar Latchison and freshman Emmanuel Fatokun represented the University of New Mexico football team Wednesday during career day at Mountain View Elementary. The Lobos spent over two hours talking with more than 75 fifth graders about the importance of staying in school and getting their education. Lobo football was one of many occupations represented during the event.

Latchison and Fatokun emphasized the importance of attending college. The Lobos spoke about the impact education has had on their lives and signed autographs. The fifth graders cracked jokes with the players and spoke about what they want to do in the future.

Now that spring football is over, UNM has focused on community service events. Lobo head coach Mike Locksley has been speaking with groups on campus as well as organizations throughout community.

Lobo football will be at North Star Elementary Thursday at 2:15 p.m. Transfer Lamaar Thomas, James Aho and offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey will be on-hand to teach football and interact with the students.

The 2010 NFL Draft will take place Thursday, April 22 – Saturday, April 24 on ESPN. Lobo offensive lineman Erik Cook has been working out in anticipation for his name being called.New Mexico football will team up with Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, May 1 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Albuquerque area.
