Standout Lee Emanuel has been selected as the Mountain West Conference men’s outdoor track and field athlete of the week for his performance at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. on April 16. Emanuel ran a 13:31.56 in the 5,000m breaking New Mexico’s old school record (13:35.59) by over four seconds. The Hastings, England product finished 11th in the event, but third among collegiate runners.
Emanuel’s time currently ranks second on the MWC all-time list and fourth overall in the country, according to the website TFRRS.org.
With his time in the 5K Emanuel now holds five different records at New Mexico between outdoor and indoor, 1,500-meter (3:37.25) outdoor records, along with the 800 meters (1:50.15), 3,000 meters (7:51.20) and the mile (3:57.62) for indoors.
