Lubbock, Texas- The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team walked away with their first win of the season over UT Arlington today at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas, 4-1. The freshman of the team won the doubles point to put the Lobos up by one from the beginning. The Lobos improve to 1-1 on the season.
Kristin Eggleston and Laura Richardson defeated Maria Martinez-Romero and Nikola Matovicoca, 8-4. Michaela Oldani and Amy Shipperd won by default, due to UT Arlington only having five players on the roster.
In singles action junior Anya Villanueva easily took the win with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Klara Jagosova.
Fellow junior Ashley Bonner dominated Monika Hadvigerova, 6-2, 6-0.
Shipperd, Richardson and Oldani all won by default.
New Mexico wraps up the weekend tomorrow with a match against Texas Tech.
