Lobo Women’s Soccer Visits Southwest Secondary Learning Centers Photo Gallery
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.–The University of New Mexico women’s soccer team paid a visit to the Southwest Secondary Learning Center today to share soccer technique and have fun with a group of seventh and eighth graders. This was the first face-to-face interaction between the two groups since the Lobos started a pen-pal program in the fall.
“To get my students interested in writing I had them write to the Lobos,” said Physical Education teacher Karen Jeffery. “We started writing to UNM teams a few years ago. I think it’s a great opportunity to get some one-on-one interaction with these athletes. It’s a wonderful experience for the cildren to meet these girls in person, play with them, and get some pointers.”
