The University of New Mexico claimed victories over four squads from Colorado at the Maverick Meet on Saturday. The Lobos defeated host Mesa State 254-46, Adams State 268-12, Northern Colorado 228-72 and the CU Boulder Club Team 267-15. Sophomore Ashlee Erickson scored 337.20 points to capture first place in the 1-meter dive and remain undefeated in dual competition. The mark is the top score for a Mountain West Conference diver this season. It also is a NCAA Zone qualifying score.

On the 3-meter, dive Aubrey Bush finished with 315 points to finish in first place. She was followed by Sasha Evangulova in third with 290.40 points, and Erickson in fourth (288.50). Behind Erikson on the 1-meter was Evangulova in second place (305.20), Bush in third (292.90), and Alexandra Lusk in fourth (283.50).

The Lobos dominated the lanes as they secured 13 of 14 first-place finishes in the women’s competition. Jocelyn Colella, Nicole Peirce, Ashley Grisdale and Jennifer Patterson began the meet by finishing first in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:00.16. Coming in second was Erica Stuart, Lindsey Morris, Nanette Wittenberg and Tessse Maciejko (4:06.73).

In the 1,650 freestyle, Jennifer Burgess captured first place, touching the wall in 17:59.56. She was followed by Maria Dudley in second (18:02.11) and Alyssa Keill in fourth (18:51.93). Tonya Gramstad also secured points for the Lobos with a win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.84. Another first-place finish for Campbell came in the 100 backstroke where she had a time of 58.77. Patterson finished second (1:00.29). Campbell also finished first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.55 and was followed by Maciejko in second (25.13). In the 100 freestyle, Campbell and Maciejko combined for the 1-2 finish again with times of 53.88 and 55.10 respectively.

Colella also finished in first place for New Mexico in the 100 breaststroke where she touched the wall in 1:08.28. She was followed by Bridget O’Hara in second place (1:08.72). Wittenberg finished first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:11.70. Colella picked up another first-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:08.32).

O’Hara picked up a top finish in the 500 freestyle when she finished with a time of 5:15.36. In the 100 butterfly, Patterson (58.16), Grisdale (59.75), Peirce (1:02.25) and Dudley (1:02.68) swept the top four spots. Grisdale finished first in the 400-yard individual medley touching the wall in 4:39.86 and was followed by Patterson in second (4:41.35).

The final first-place finish for New Mexico came in the 400-yard freestyle relay from Maciejko, Wittenberg, O’Hara, and Campbell with at time of 3:38.12.

The Lobos are now 7-8 on the season and 1-6 in Mountain West Conference competition. New Mexico returns to action Jan. 22 at TCU. Competition in Fort Worth, Texas will begin at 2 p.m.
