2009-10 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Final Fall Standings
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Final Fall Standings have been released and the University of New Mexico Lobos are currently ranked 29th with the conclusion of the Fall Sports season. UNM is second among Mountain West Conference members going into the Winter Sports season.
The Lobos accumulated 167 points with a record four Fall teams advancing to the national postseason. UNM’s men’s soccer and volleyball teams earn 25 points each for the school with First Round appearances in their respective 2009 NCAA Tournaments. The Lobo men’s and women’s cross country teams earned 66 and 51 points towards the rankings with strong finishes at the NCAA National Championship Meet.
UNM has 15 sports seasons remaining to accumulate more points to stay in the Top 30. The Lobos best overall finish in the Directors’ Cup standings came in 1995-96 at 43rd. UNM’s most recent Top-50 finish was 48th in 2004-05.
