Ashlee Erickson led the way for the women’s swimming and diving team capturing back-to-back victories on the 1-meter dive in UNM’s two-meet swing through Utah.The Lobos defeated Seattle University 200-95 on Friday, but fell to BYU (234-65) and Boise State (201-97) in Provo, Utah. On Saturday, New Mexico competed against Utah in a quad meet where they were defeated 216-83.

“It was a tough two days with back-to-back meets. Overall they were both good meets. We swam well and the divers were fantastic,” stated head coach Tracy Ljone. “It was a really good weekend and we are growing as a team.”

In competition on Friday, senior Jennifer Patterson led the way for the Lobos with a third place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (57.79). Marissa Campbell finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (53.33), and Jocelyn Colella also picked up a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.79). In the 100-yard backstroke, Patterson touched the wall in 1:00.33 to finish fourth, followed by Colella in fifth (1:00.38).

Aubrey Bush finished third on the 3-meter dive with a mark of 238.70. She was followed by Erickson in fourth (280.75). On the 1-meter, Bush finished fifth (250.65).

In the relays the Lobos captured two more fourth-place times. The first was in the 200-yard medley relay composed of Patterson, Campbell, Ashley Grisdale, and Tesse Maciejko (1:49.89). The second came in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Campbell, Grisdale, Patterson and O’Hara (1:39.75).

On Saturday, Campbell paced the Lobos splashing into second-place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.03.

On the 3-meter dive, Sasha Evangulova earned a mark of 283.25 to finish in second place. She was followed by Bush in third (272.30), Erickson in fourth (263.75), and Alexandra Lusk in sixth (247.60). Following Erickson’s top finish on the 1-meter dive was Lusk in fourth-place (248.45) and Evangulova in fifth (241.55).

The Lobos picked up a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with Nanette Wittenberg, Patterson, Maciejko, and Campbell finishing with a time of 3:37.91. Also finishing third for UNM was Campbell in the 100-yard butterfly (59.02).

The Lobos are now 3-5 on the season, 1-4 in Mountain West Conference action. They return home Nov. 14 when they host conference competition in Wyoming and in-state rival New Mexico State. Action will begin at Noon.
