The 25th-ranked University of New Mexico women’s golf team fell to 17th place after two rounds of the Landfall Tradition being played in Wilmington, N.C.
The Lobos began the day tied for 11th, but shot a 25-over 313 today on the par-72, 6,325-yard Country Club of Landfall course, which is the site of the 2010 NCAA Championships. UNM has a 36-hole total of 616 (40-over). Results and live scoring are available at GolfStat.com.
The tournament features 16 teams ranked in the top-25 of the latest Golfweek poll.
Top-ranked UCLA took over the team lead at 583. The Bruins lead Wake Forest by eight shots. First-round leader Southern California dropped all the way to eighth at 597 after shooting 309 today.
UNM senior Jodi Ewart shot a 1-over 73 and leads the Lobo contingent at 4-over 148 (75-73). She is tied for 26th place.
Wake Forest’s Cheyenne Woods, the niece of Tiger Woods, has the individual lead at 5-under 139, one shot in front of Auburn’s Cydney Clanton.
After an opening round 71, sophomore Rebecca Hellbom shot a 9-over 80, and is tied for 40th place at 151. Hellbom was stung by a triple bogey on her third hole.
Senior Britney Choy (78-81) and sophomore Sarah Salvo (79-80) are tied for 72nd at 159 while freshman Bethany Buchner is tied for 85th at 169 (89-80).
New Mexico’s final round of the fall season begins Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m. Mountain Time.
