ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team wrapped up fall play today with its final day at the ITA Mountain Regional. Seven Lobos put in 39 matches over four days at the event, compiling a 25-14 record between main draws and consolation mathes in singles and doubles. Carl Ho made it to the round of 16 main draw and Ho and Phil Anderson as well as Jadon Phillps and Ben Dunbar made it to the round of 16 in the doubles main draw.

“Overall it was a solid tournament for us,” head coach Alan Dils said. “We are really trying to work on getting in that experience. We did that and more. A number of our players received a lot of attention and raised a lot of eyebrows from other schools.

“On the doubles end, they are getting more confident with each other. The competition stretched guys to their limits in a good way. We showed a lot of fight, desire and improvement and have set ourselves up for a good spring season.”

Phillips and Dunbar concluded the Lobos run in doubles consolation with a win over Jeff Mullen and Vicente Joli of Boise State, 9-7. Phillips also picked up a win over BYU’s Stephen Smith in consolation singles action, 6-3, 6-2.

The Lobos, who went 20-6 in 2009, kick off the spring dual season on Jan. 23, hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
