LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team continued action at the ITA Mountain Regional today, sending two singles players and one doubles pairs along in competitive consolation action. Entering today, two doubles duos remained in the main draw, but both Carl Ho and Phil Anderson and Conor Berg and Joe Wood were ousted from the main draw round of 16.
Ho and Anderson fell to Andrew Landwerlend and David Simson of Denver, 8-6, while Berg and Wood were topped by Utah’s Philip Eilers and Alex Golding, 8-3. The two tandems also lost in consolation quarterfinal qualifiers, leaving just Ben Dunbar and Jadon Phillips alive in the doubles consolation rounds.
Phillips and Ho are the two Lobos who remain alive in consolation singles. Phillips picked up two wins today, a victory over teammate Wood, 6-1, 6-2, before beating Idaho’s Adrien Simon by default.
Saturday’s matches begin at 10 a.m. MT with the event running through Sunday.
