TULSA, Okla.— Sophomore Carl Ho lost to Auburn’s Alex Stamchev 6-2, 6-3, in the first round of the ITA All-American qualifying matches, ending his run at the event. Ho won two matches in the pre-qualifying rounds to earn one of 16 spots in the qualifying round.
“Conditions at 8 a.m. in Tulsa were less than stellar to say the least,” assistant men’s tennis coach Bart Scott said. “Carl had a good run, but struggled with his serve the entire tournament, which as you begin to play better competition which as you begin to play better competition catches up to you a bit. I am proud of him for pulling out wins not playing his best tennis.”
The Lobos will host their next fall event, the Balloon Fiesta Invite, this upcoming weekend, Oct. 9-11.
