University of New Mexico senior Jodi Ewart shot a 4-under 69 to grab a share of the individual lead after one round of the 30th Branch Law Firm / Dick McGuire Invitational. Live stats are available at GolfStat.com.
Ewart, the defending champion, birdied four of the first seven holes on the University of New Mexico Championship Course (par-73, 6,187 yards). TCU’s Rachel Raastad and San Diego State’s Christine Wong also finished at 69.
As a team, the 21st-ranked Lobos are in fourth place following a 2-over 294. They trail No. 12 Pepperdine by six shots. The Waves shot 4-under 288 to take a 3-shot advantage over TCU and UNLV (291).
UNM is the defending team champion.
The second round is currently underway. Sunday’s final round is a shotgun start that begins at 7:30 a.m. Mountain Time.
