The 25th-ranked University of New Mexico women’s golf team is in 4th place after two rounds of the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic being played in Fort Collins, Colo. The Lobos are at 2-over 578 (286-292) on the par-72, 6,259-yard Ptarmigan Country Club course.

UNM trails Idaho by 10 shots entering the final round. The surprising Vandals carded an 11-under 277 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 568. Host Colorado State is two shots back at 570 followed by Texas Tech at 572.

The Lobos were in second place following the first round after shooting a 2-under 286, but they played the second round in 4-over.

The 16-team field begins Tuesday’s final round at 8:30 a.m. Live stats are available at GolfStat.com.

Senior Jodi Ewart and sophomore Rebecca Hellbom are leading the Lobos. The duo is tied for sixth at 3-under 141. Hellbom shot a career-low 68 (4-under) in the first round. Ewart shot 69 in the second round. They trail Louisville’s Laura Anderson by three shots. Anderson leads the field at 6-under 138.

Lobo senior Britney Choy is tied for 28th at 147 (71-75). Sophomore Sarah Salvo is at 149 (74-79), and tied for 41st, while freshman Bethany Buchner is tied for 63rd at 154 in her first collegiate competition.

Junior Jordan Kennon, competing as an individual, is tied for 67th at 156 (78-78).
