Former and current Lobos have been making progress over the summer.
Lobo Pros
John Hesketh and Cole White have moved up to Class A ball since the beginning of August. Hesketh started his pro career with the Mariners rookie team in Arizona and after 5 games was moved to Everett in the Rookie Pioneer League. After two appearances in Everett, Hesketh made another move to Class A Midwest League Clinton LumberKings, joining former Lobo teammate Bobby LaFromboise. White started his pro career in Idaho Falls, the Royals Rookie Northwest League team, and was moved to the Burlington Bees in the Class A Midwest League in early August.
Current Lobos
Several current Lobos have summer ball seasons coming to an end before they head backto Albuquerque for the Fall 2009 semester.
Palm Springs Power (Southern California Collegiate Baseball Association) – Max Willett and Gabe AguilarThe Power finished the season 34-7 and won SCCBA title for first time in six years of program. Willett hit .283 in 32 games and had 13 stolen bases, 5 doubles and 16 RBI. Aguilar made 13 appearances, finishing with a 2.89 ERA, 2-1 with 2 saves, 4 walks and 20 strikeouts. Thunder Bay Border Cats (Northwoods League) – Adam Courcha, Cameron Smith and Ryan HoneycuttThe Border Cats finished the season 27-41. Courcha, NWL All-Star second baseman, hit .282 in 51 games with 26 runs, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 17 RBI and 7 SB, and led the team with 30 walks. Smith hit .260 in 53 games with 20 runs, 13 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 23 RBI and 7 SB. Honeycutt played just 14 games before returning to New Mexico, hitting .262 with 3 runs, 1 2B and 2 RBI. East Texas Pump Jacks (Texas Collegiate League) – Daniel Gonzalez and Ben WoodchickThe Pump Jacks finished the season 26-19, second in the TCL. Woodchick hit .253 in 32 games with 10 runs, 3 2B, 10 RBI and 14 walks. Gonzalez played in 22 games with 2 2B and 7 RBI. Hays Larks (Jayhawk League) – Edwin Carl and Kenny TovesThe Larks are currently playing in the NBC World Series in Wichita, 32-15 going into Aug. 13 quarterfinal game with El Dorado. Carl had a 3.67 ERA at the end of the regular season with a 3-4 record. Eau Claire Express (Northwoods League) – Rudy Jaramillo and Rafael NedaThe Express finished the season 36-32. Neda played in 21 games before returning to ABQ for second summer session. The Lobo junior-to-be hit .284, 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR and 14 RBI. Jaramillo led team with 64.2 IP and 9 starts in 10 appearances, 3-3, 2 CG, 1 SHO and a 2.64 ERA.
