NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Mexico women’s track and field team was one of seven Mountain West Conference programs to earn 2009 All-Academic Track & Field Team recognition by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today. New Mexico led the MWC and ranked 15th nationally with a 3.420 team grade point average. A total of 131 Division I programs were recognized as women’s All-Academic Teams.
BYU (3.250), Colorado State (3.233), Utah (3.209), Wyoming (3.143) and TCU (3.072) rounded out the rest of the MWC team award winners.
To be nominated for Division I All-Academic Track & Field honors, a team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average.
