Albuquerque, N.M.- The University of New Mexico women’s tennis coach Roy Cañada announced the 2009-2010 schedule today. Cañada has assembled another tough schedule, as the Lobos will face five teams ranked in the top 50 of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Polls, in TCU, UNLV, San Diego State, Denver and Boise State. Seven of the teams featured on this years schedule appeared in the 2009 NCAA Championships. The 2009-2010 schedule allows for Lobo fans to see the team ten times on New Mexico’s home court.

“I am looking forward to a year with a very competitive schedule,” head coach Roy Cañada said. “I believe every team we will be facing will be a battle and with each battle our team will be gaining the strength and experience needed to finish strong”

New Mexico starts off fall play at home with the annual UNM Fall Invite on Sept. 25-27. The Invite will feature No. 73 Texas Tech, Arizona, No. 35 Boise State and No. 38 Denver. From there the team will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. for the Falcon Fall Invite and continue on the Las Vegas, Nev. for the ITA Mountain Region. Staying on the road the Lobos will next travel to Kansas City, Kan. for the Jayhawk Invitational before coming home on Nov. 6-8 to host the Southwest Collegiate Invitational featuring Northern Arizona, UTEP, Western New Mexico, GCC, Arizona and Oregon.

New Mexico will start off spring play on Jan. 22-24 in Lubbock, Texas taking on Tulane, No. 73 Texas Tech and UT Arlington.

The Lobos will come home on Feb. 12-14 hosting No. 70 Oregon and No. 61 Colorado State and will continue their home stand Feb. 19-21 taking on No. 66 Nevada and Kansas State.

On Feb. 27 New Mexico heads to Boise, Idaho to battle Washington State and No. 35 Boise State.

The Lobos will be on the road the whole month of March traveling first to El Paso, Texas to take on UTEP, continuing on to Las Cruces for the Rio Grand Rivalry taking on New Mexico State. New Mexico will head to Tampa, Fla. battling South Florida and continuing on to Orlando to take on Central Florida.

From there New Mexico begins conference play in Fort Worth, Texas on April 1-3 challenging the Air Force Academy, Wyoming and Colorado State. Next the Lobos will travel to Las Vegas, Nev. On April 9-10 taking on No. 43 San Diego State and No. 44 UNLV. New Mexico will round out regular season play at home on April 16-18 hosting No. 63 Utah, No. 64 BYU and No. 28 TCU.

The Mountain West Conference Championships will be held in Las Vegas, Nev. April 28-May 1.
