Lobos Welcome Three New Faces to the Pool Deck

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The University of New Mexico swimming and diving team has announced the signing of three athletes for the 2009-10 season. One diver, Tanis Chomyn, and two swimmers, Alyssa Keill and Lindsey Morris will join the Lobos roster.

Chomyn joins the UNM squad from St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, where she has been diving competitively since 2003. She currently dives for the Edmonton Kinsmen Diving Club. For three consecutive years Chomyn has qualified for the Junior provincial team and has been a member of the Junior National Team. In 2007 she represented Alberta in the Western Canada Summer Games and captured silver and gold medals. Chomyn is currently in the running for a position on the Canadian Summer Games team.

Keill is a native of Fairbanks, Alaska where she attended Lathrop High School and swam for the Midnight Sun Swim Team. Keill placed second in the 500-yard freestyle at the Alaska High School State meet, was the girls team captain, and received MVP for both her club and high school team. She received the high point award at Age Group Sectionals in 2008 and qualified for Senior Sectionals. Keill graduated with a 4.01 and is expected to compete in the distance freestyle, breaststroke, and individual medley for the Lobos.

Morris is a native of Aurora, Colorado where she attended Eaglecrest High School and swam for the Mission Aurora Colorado Swimming club team. Morris broke four pool records and three school records at Eaglecrest and was a member of the Aurora All-City Team. She was a sectional qualifier in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke and 100-yard and 400-yard individual medley and placed in the top-16 in the 400-yard freestyle relay at sectionals. Morris is a four year honors student and is expected to compete in the breaststroke and individual medley events at UNM.
