The Albuquerque and Rio Rancho Boys and Girls Club announced the addition of University of New Mexico football head coach Mike Locksley to the Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors today. Locksley brings a long and varied background in association with the Boys and Girls Club program. The Boys and Girls Club of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho began nearly 60 years ago and services over 1,500 children in the area.
“The Boys and Girls Club was there for me when I was young and it’s an organization about giving back to the youth,” said Locksley. “I grew up in a single parent household and Boys and Girls Club provided me opportunities to grow. I have been involved in the past and I’m excited that I’ll continue to be involved in the future.”
The mission of the Boys and Girls club is: To inspire And Enable All Young People, Especially Those From Disadvantaged Circumstances, To Realize Their Full Potential As Productive, Responsible And Caring Citizens.
“Given the fact that coach Locksley has dedicated his life to coaching young people we feel it is a natural fit for him to assist the Boys and Girls Club,” said Boys and Girls Club of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho Executive Director Mike Walker.
