TEMPE, Ariz. – University of New Mexico senior Jarrin Solomon clocked an outdoor season-opening time of 46.90 – the fastest in the Mountain West Conference this spring – to finish fifth in the premier university section 400 meters late Saturday night at Arizona State’s Sun Devil Classic. It was Solomon’s first race since earning All-America honors with a fifth place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships a month earlier.

The Albuquerque La Cueva product secured his place at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships for the first time since 2007. Solomon redshirted the 2008 outdoor season.

Later, he led the Lobos’ 4×400 relay team to a time of 3:14.32 in the squad’s season debut.
