Fort Worth, Texas- Senior Ola Abou-Zekry won her fifth straight singles match Friday as she defeated No. 96 McCall Jones. However, it wasn’t enough for the University of New Mexico women’s tennis team as the fell to conference rival BYU, 4-3 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Abou-Zekry won a tough match 6-4, 3-6 and pulled it out in a tiebreaker 10-5. Abou-Zekry is improves to 19-9 on the season.
Mackenzie White also improved her record as she defeated Kristina Doerr, 6-7, 7-6, 10-8. White improves to 16-9 on the season.
Emma Hayman captured a win as she defeated Chie Hayasaka. Hayman also won by tiebreaker 6-3, 6-7 (7-3).
The Lobos (5-12, 0-3) will be back in action tomorrow as they take on Utah at 10 a.m.
