Ola Abou-Zekry notched another win in singles play Saturday in San Diego. However, the University of New Mexico women’s tennis team fell to No. 29 San Diego State, 4-3, in their second conference match of the season. The Lobos fall to 5-11 on the season.
Abou-Zekry’s first set lasted an hour and a half as she defeated Holly Bagshaw, 7-6 (10), 6-1. The Cairo, Egypt product has won her last nine out of 12 matches and is 10-6 this spring and 18-9 overall this season.
“Ola had a good day today,” head coach Kathy Kolankiewicz said. “Her match was really high quality tennis.”
Also improving to 10-6 Saturday was Mackenzie White who defeated Emma Cioffi, 6-3, 6-4. White has her last six out of seven singles matches.
Emma Hayman captured another win today defeating Esther Cadua, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The Lobos will travel to Fort Worth, TX to take on BYU, Utah and TCU April 3rd.
