Albuquerque, N.M.- Head coach Kathy Kolankiewicz got her 350th win today over UT-Arlington. The Lobos won 4-3 at the Barnes Collegiate Invite in San Diego, Calif. New Mexico improves to 4-9 on the season.
After losing the doubles point the Lobos rallied together to get the win in singles play. Victoria Tessmar was tied the match being the first off the court. Tessmar defeated Katrina Micochova, 6-0, 6-3.
Ola Abou-Zekry notched another win today winning her last five matches. Abou-Zekry defeated Monika Hadigerova, 6-3, 6-1.
Mackenzie White dominated her opponent for yet another match defeating Klara Jagosova, 6-1, 6-1.
With the win on the line it came down to Emma Hayman for the second time this season. The score was three all and Hayman and Daiana Negreanu had split sets.
“Emma’s best set was her third,” head coach Kathy Kolankiewicz. “She put up a good fight.”
Hayman knew what was on the line and dominated the third set winning 6-1.
“This brings back good memories of all the wonderful wins our teams have had,” Kolankiewicz said. “Getting my 350th win was great and so much fun. I want to thank the team for their hard fought win.”
The Lobos will be back in action tomorrow as they try to get some revenge on Northern Arizona at the Barnes Collegiate Invite.
