Lobos win – or share – their 1st MWC title and 1st conference championship since 1994…UNM’s last conference title was also clinched on the road, at BYU…the Lobos finished 14-4 in the WAC that season
New Mexico has won a season-high 5 straight and 8 of the past 9…the Lobos are 6-6 on the road, including 3-1 in the past 4
Steve Alford wins his 1st regular season conference championship at the Div. I level…he did win consecutive titles with Manchester (Ind.) College in 1994 and 1995…that was in NCAA Div. III
UNM has beaten Wyoming 4 straight times for the first time since a 5-game run from 1992-94…the Lobos post consecutive wins at Wyoming since 3 in a row from 1993-95
Alford has 45 wins in his first two seasons as New Mexico head coach, the most in school history
Even more impressive is how Alford’s two Lobo teams have played on the road: 14-12 the past 2 years, which is a record for road wins in consecutive seasons…also 9-7 in MWC the past 2 seasons, also a record for consecutive seasons
