2009 Grass Bash Registration Form
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico volleyball team is back on the court preparing for the 2009 season. UNM will play in three spring tournaments, including the Lobo Spring Tournament on April 4 at Johnson Center.
New Mexico will begin spring competition on Saturday, March 28, when it travels to the University of Arizona Tournament in Tucson. The other road tournament will be at UNLV on Saturday, April 18.
“This is a very good Spring schedule with a number of very challenging matches for our team,” said Lobos head coach Jeff Nelson. “We are planning to split our team and have two teams in the Arizona and Lobo tournaments. This will allow all of our athletes to get more court time.”
In addition to the Lobos’ home tournament, UNM will play the Southwest All-Stars at Johnson Center on Friday, April 3 at 7 p.m.
UNM is also hosting the Third Annual Grass Bash on Sunday, April 26 at Johnson Fields. The Grass Bash is a fundraiser/charity event.
New Mexico is coming off of one of its most successful seasons in recent history, finishing 22-7 overall and 11-5 in Mountain West Conference play. The Lobos have 13 players returning, but will have to replace All-American Jeanne Fairchild, All-MWC Gayle Tripp and Sarah Kwasigroch.
