The University of New Mexico swimming and diving team was recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for recording the ninth-highest grade point average in the country for Division I programs. The team recorded a 3.45 g.p.a. for the fall 2008 semester. UNM has recorded at least a 3.45 since the fall of 2006.
“This is a fantastic accomplishment by our ladies,” says head coach Tracy Ljone. “This achievement just goes to show how incredibly hard they work in the classroom as well as in the pool. I am extremely proud of them.”
In the 2007-08 season 11 Lobos were named MWC Scholar Athletes and 13 were named to the Academic All-Conference team.
