The University of New Mexico swim team competed in the 2009 Ft. Lauderdale Rough Water Swim hosted by the International Swimming Hall of Fame on Saturday, Jan. 3.

The Lobos fared well in the Ocean Mile swim. In the College Junior division Ashley Grisdale captured a first-place finish with a time of 22:20.6. She was followed by fellow Lobo Bridget O’Hara in second-place (22:38.5).

In the College Sophomore division Jennifer Burgess finished 12th (26:47.8). Erica Stuart captured a top-ten spot in the College Freshman division.

Maria Dudley finished second in the female 5K ocean race, followed by Sally Bellinger in fourth-place.

The Lobos return to the pool Jan. 17 to take on Utah in their first conference meet of the spring. Swim events will be held at Rio Rancho and diving events will take place at Sandia High School. Both portions of the meet are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
