WOODLAND, Calif.–The University of New Mexico men’s soccer team has placed seven players on the Academic All-Mountain Pacific Sports Foundation as announced by the conference office today. The list includes all three seniors, Chris Wright, Mike Porter and Jack Smithson, junior Simon Ejdemyr and sophomores Mike Reed, Eric Staver and James Urbany. This marks the third Academic All-MPSF award for Wright, the second for Ejdemyr, Porter, Reed and Smithson and the first for Staver and Urbany.
The Lobos have had no less than five players on the Academic All-MPSF list since 2003.
The Lobos have had their fair share of academic postseason awards. Wright and Ejdemyr were both selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American team on Nov. 5. Wright and Ejdemyrs selections keep a streak alive since 2003 that no other team in the nation can claim having.
The Lobos were recently awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association of American Team Academic – an award that the Lobos have won six straight times.
