The following awards were announced last night at the 2008 Lobo Football Banquet.

Bill Brannin Award – Most Valuable Player

Notes:
-Glover Quin is the first defensive player to win the Bill Brannin Award for Most Valuable Player since LB Mike Barnett in 2000…he is the first cornerback ever to win the award…he and FS Brian Urlacher (1998-99) are the only defensive backs to win the MVP award…a running back had earned team MVP honors the past seven years (Jarrod Baxter – 2001, DonTrell Moore – 2002-05, Rodney Ferguson – 2006-07)

-Rodney Ferguson wins the Reese Hill Award for Most Valuable Offensive Player for the second time in his career (2006)

-Quin is the fifth CB to win the Col. HJ Golightly Award for Most Valuable Defensive Player, joining Brett Heper (1989), Eric Jack (1993), Ramos McDonald (1996-97) and Gabriel Fulbright (2005)

-Erik Cook is the first center to win the Outstanding Offensive Lineman award since his older brother Ryan in 2005
