Thoughts on the game:
“We played really well. I’m very proud of our guys today.We have come together really well down the stretch of this season. We’re getting better as the season has progressed.I think the biggest thing is we have a bigger sense of being a team. We have started to enjoy the success of others. At the end of the day, the only way you’re a great team is if you play together. We kind have figured things out and hopefully its not too late. This is a very good team. Nobody in the country would take us lightly. The main thing is we got a win, we got the shutout, and we played as a team. I was really happy with our performance.
Senior Chris Wright
On drawing the penalty kick:
“I was getting pulled pretty good. I realized I wasn’t going to get the ball…so you know…But it was a foul. I just tried to make the referees decision a little easier. It was a great PK by Simon. He is always really confident in those situations. I’m glad we were able to get the goal. That was one of the best games we have had all year. We have never been a team that gives up, and that showed today.”
On getting on into the NCAA Tournament:
“We have done everything we can do to be considered for the tournament. I honestly believe we will get in. We all knew through this week that we needed to come out and do what we can do. Now it’s up to the committee.”
Senior Mike Porter
On his last home game:
“I feel great. We needed to come out today and get the win. It’s always great to have your last game at home. It was a great atmosphere and my family was here; it was just a good day. I’m going to miss my teammates, and playing in front of my family and friends. This is one of the best venues in the country to play soccer.”
Senior Jack Smithson
Thoughts on the game:
“I’m glad we went out on a win. As a team, I think we are really coming around and playing together. It was a little emotional at the start, but in the second half I thought we settled down and played well. We just decided to defend as a team. We didn’t give up very many chances and I think that is a sign of coming together, We’ve had two quality wins, and that’s as good as any of the teams on the bubble. I think we have proven that we can play and beat good teams. Hopefully we’re in.”
