ALBUQUEQUE, N.M. – Senior forward Chris Wright scored two goals in a 4-1 victory over the Air Force Falcons tonight at the UNM Soccer Complex. The Lobos out shot the Falcons 20-11 and improved to 10-6-2 on the season and 6-3-0 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play. The Falcons fall to 4-13-0 on the season and 2-7-0 in MPSF play.

“We attacked well tonight,” said head coach Fishbein. “We went into the game with a good idea about how we wanted to play them. It was an important win for us. It’s good to score goals. Smithson started things off with a nice goal that set the tempo of the game. We were solid and confident.”

The Lobos went up 1-0 when senior midfielder Jack Smithson picked up a Justin Davis rebound for his fourth goal of the season. Davis was able to notch a goal of his own when he took a punt from goalkeeper Justin Fite and popped the ball up and over the Air Force keeper to put the Lobos up 2-0 at the half.

Wright got hot in the second half and scored two brilliant goals on two different keepers. The first was a one-on-one with the Falcon keeper Jim Gullo that Wright put far post for his fifth goal of the season. After giving up a goal and being up 3-1, Wright collected a ball in the box and struck it home for his sixth goal of the season and put the Lobos on top 4-1.

The Lobos will face Denver at 1 p.m. in a match that will be make or break for the Lobos. A win would enhance the Lobos bid for another NCAA Tournament birth. The game will be broadcast live through All-Access and live stats will be provided through Gametracker. For more information visit www.GoLobos.com.
