Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Day Two At Jack Taylor Classic

The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team concluded the second day of action at the Jack Taylor Classic held in Boise, Idaho today. The Lobos won two of their four doubles matches against Washington State. UNM is one of three teams competing at the event hosted by Boise State University.

Ola Abou-Zerky and partner Maria Sotirchos defeated Elisabeth Fournier and Aleksandra Cekic 8-4. Anya Villanueva and Victoria Tessmar teamed up to beat Jessica Gomez and Marina Nicola 8-6.

Abou-Zerky was one of two players to win in singles play. Abou-Zerky beat Vivien Silfany from Boise State 6-3, 7-5. Emma Hayman also won her singles match beating Bianca Jochimsen from Boise State 6-3,1-6, 6-4.

The Lobos will start day three at the Jack Taylor Classic at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5th.
