University of New Mexico men’s soccer junior Justin Davis was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week today. Davis scored the game-winner in the Lobos’ 2-1 win over Stanford on Friday, Oct. 24, at the UNM Soccer Complex.
This is the second MPSF Player of the Week honor for Daivs, a midfielder from Litchfield Park, Ariz. Davis started a give-and-go with freshman Michael Green for the game-winning play. He sent a pass to Green just outside of the Stanford box in the 83rd minute. Green gave it right back to Davis who went top-shelf off the crossbar and in the net for the 2-1 win.
Davis now has four goals on the season and a team-high 12 points. Three of his goals have been game-winners in 2008. Davis and the Lobos take on UNLV on Friday, Oct. 31, at 7:00 p.m. at the UNM Soccer Complex. UNM is 7-5-2 and 3-2-0 through the first half of MPSF action. UNLV is 8-4-1 and 3-2-0 in MPSF play. Denver currently leads the MPSF race with a 7-5-1 overall mark and 5-0-0 in conference action.
