University of New Mexico senior Jack Smithson is currently tied for the team lead in scoring with seven points on the season. He has three goals and an assist this year and is one of the main attacking players on the team. Smithson was receently put on the hot seat for “20 Questions” and here are his answers.
Smithson was born on June 27, 1986, and grew up in Chicago, Ill. In 2003, Smithson scored the game-winning goal for his club team the Chicago Magic in the USYSA U-17 national championship game. In 2004, Smithson was named to the Illinois High School All-State team and in 2006 he was named on the Third Team All-MPSF for the Lobos. His favorite class is economics, and his major is University Studies. We played 20 Questions with Jack and here are some of his answers.
1) What is your favorite type of movie? I like comedy movies, Dumb and Dumber
2) Would you rather be a lion, cobra, or shark? Shark, I like the ocean
3) What’s your favorite video game? FIFA Soccer for Play Station
4) What’s your hobby? Golf and tennis
5) What is the fastest you have ever ran the 40 yard dash? 4.9
6) One word that describes how you feel when on the soccer field? Creative
7) What was your best soccer memory growing up? Winning a national championship with my club team
8) Was soccer your first choice of sport to play growing up? No, I started playing golf
9) How many movies have you seen in the last three months? Not very many, I don’t really watch movies.
10) Do you think you could compete with Tiger Woods at miniature golf? Probably not
11) What is your favorite soda-pop? Dr Pepper
12) In Capture the Flag, are you the jail guard, flag guard, or flag capturer, during the game? Capturer
13) Which show do you like more: Family Guy, The Simpsons, or South Park? South Park
14) Who wins in a fight, Superman or former Chicago Bear Coach, Mike Ditka? Ditka
15) Which do you prefer, Chinese, Italian or Mexican food? Other… Japanese
16) Where would you live if not in America? Australia- I like being by the water

18) What is your favorite animal? monkey
19) How many super-soakers did you own growing up? A lot, I’d say 15-20. I was more in to balloon launchers
20) Have you ever had a goldfish? Nope
The Lobos men soccer team plays this Friday against San Jose State at 7 p.m. (M.D.T.) at the UNM Soccer Complex. Friday night is “Stuff the Stadium” and all tickets are $2.
